The Universal Vintage Ribbon Microphone [Model "AV" Velocity: 958 D1; Serial Number: 1018] was produced in the 1930's by Universal Microphones Co. LTD in Ingelwood California USA. It was described as high quality and based upon it's frequency response, sopranos as well as brass and bass would be recorded and reproduced faithfully.

I was unable to test this mike as it is devoid of cabling.  I also have not opened it up to inspect the inards.  I am selling this predominately as a collector's piece and cannot address functionality.  This displays nicely despite the paint wear and denuding of the finish posteriorly.  Almost all of these mikes that I have seen on eBay have had the same issues with the finish.  Perhaps this was a design flaw.  I was able to find a few old ads from catalogs on this item, at least it looks like the same mike and they are made by Universal.  I was unable to find any celebrities pictured with the Model "AV", though.  This may be editorial as RCA mics seem to dominate and rule in this regards.

This mike is quite heavy.  The stand is included and it appears to be OEM.  It has 4 holes at it's borders to attach it to a table of podium. I would describe the condition of the mic as good and after a good cleaning, it displays even better. It has a nice patina.
