Here we have a Vintage Lafayette Vertical Dynamic Microphone which has a Omnidirection, Pressure Type Capsule.  It is in mint condition, except for the cable which is frayed near the 1/4 inch male, unbalanced plug. This was probably manufactured in the late 1950's to Early 1960's. It was featured in a Lafayette catalog and later in a Realistic one.  (Radioshack bought Lafayette around this time.)  It comes with the original box which shows it's age with some of the seams torn but it is in stable condition.

These mikes were promoted as "cheap" studio microphone alternatives and it was felt to be ideal for tape recordings and PA systems.  This mic was "Made in Japan" in the era when this label connoted poor quality. As with Vintage Japanese Guitars, modern day musucians now recognize and treasure the high quality work from yesteryears.  The omnidirectional design eliminated "proximity effect". The impedance is 50 Hz and it might be a classy compliment to a harmonica. The Stock Number is 99-4559.

The function of the mike was verified on my small PA and there was a strong clear signal.   Feedback is quite common with omnidirectional mikes, as with this one.  The wires are exposed and ratty at the juncture with the plug.  This item is quite rare in my opinion as I have only seen two at auction on eBay.  The condition of this microphone being superb and the OEM box, clearly enhances the value of the Lafayette Vertical Dynamic Microphone. The stand is not included.
